Welcome to the Vashon Conversation Project –
A Community-Wide Effort to Raise Consciousness about our Shared Condition: Mortality

I have come to learn that death is an important thing to keep in mind — not to complain or to make melancholy, but simply because only with the honest knowledge that one day I will die I can ever truly begin to live.
— R. A. Salvatore

The way we think about living and dying has a profound influence on how we see the world and one another.  The intent of the Vashon Conversation for the Living about Dying project is to raise our collective consciousness about our shared condition:  mortality. The goal is to reach a “tipping point” – motivating the majority of Island residents to take action – to do advance care planning and complete advance directives.  This is an opportunity to begin to change our culture . . .  to come together to think and talk about death . . .  to learn, tell stories and accompany one another on this shared journey.  We hope you will join us in these most important conversations.
